CATS is a Mountain Biking Club based in the Market Harborough and Northampton Area. We are a group of riders who enjoy getting out into the hills and riding for the fun of it. We have riders of all abilities, from first-timers to full-on racers, riding on all manner of bikes.
CATS was set up in 1998 by a small group of riders who had belonged to a cycling club that was mainly road orientated, and decided to go it alone. Within a couple of years the club was over 50 strong. The club is affiliated to the main national bodies of cycling in Great Britain; British Cycling (www.britishcycling.org.uk); The Road Time Trials Council (www.rttc.org.uk) and to Midland Trailquests. (www.midlandtrailquests.co.uk )
The club organises a variety of events during the year which include cross country races and a Trailquest orienteering events. Some of our members are key organisers of the Friday Night Summer Series (www.fnssmtb.com). Our annual CATS cracker is a Trailquest held in the week between Christmas and New Year.
The club has a low membership fee, which is discounted even more when renewed. The club issues you with a membership card, and many local shops in the area do offer a discount to club members on production of the card.
We have strong links with George Halls Cycle Centre, which brings more benefits to its members.
The ethos of CATS is to go out and have fun. We don’t have huge mountains but we do have miles of rideable trails and bridleways snaking through the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire countryside. Nearly all of our riding is done as a group and no rider is too slow or too fast to join the rides. We have a very active race scene with many of the riders competing in the local mountain bike, trailquest and cyclo-cross events. Riders from CATS have raced further afield in national and international events.
We want to see more active Mountain Bikers in the area, so get in touch or turn up at one of our riders. Everyone is welcome.

Why CATS – Central All Terrain Squad. When we were founded the term All Terrain was still being used to describe mountain bikes. There were a few similar names like NATS (Nottingham All Terrain Bikes) and RATS (Reading All Terrain Squad)
